Shopfront is a collaboration between local music and events management agencies Elastico and Little Acorn Music that will enable small independent businesses to present a curated lineup of local musicians as an accompaniment to their food, wine or wares.

“By their nature, live performance creates opportunities for artists to reach new audiences, especially if we’re looking to diversify the locations and atmosphere of each show,” says Elastico Co-Founder Ryan Winter.

“In addition, we’re looking to use the platform for promotion that live music offers to help draw attention to some exceptional local independent businesses.”

Mama Jambo only recently opened and will use the events to showcase their menu of “locally sourced produce inspired by modern Australian cuisine, with an African twist”, while local musicians entertain the crowd.

“We’re really hoping to raise the profile of our local food and wine as well as contributing to keeping the live music scene in Adelaide alive,” says co-owner Caroline Mosha.

“We love our live music and often have local reggae acts come and perform; our patrons love it and love our unique space.”

Mosha says Mama Jambo went to a lot of effort to get its live entertainment license and hopes that Shopfront will succeed.

“It seems like perfect timing, with Adelaide buzzing and full of these incredible cafes, restaurants and creative businesses,” says Little Acorn director Sian Walden.

“Ryan [Winter] and I are both passionate abut creating opportunities where music is celebrated and nurtured, so we wanted to offer artists a concept that can assist them in reaching new audiences in different supportive spaces.”

Shopfront will continue at Mama Jambo at 8pm on April 23 with Rowena Wise + Sam Brittain, on April 28 with Sitara + Guests, and May 7 with Donnarumma + Tom West. Entry is free.
