The competition, which is owned by the South Australian Museum, invites photographers to submit images of fauna, flora or landscapes in Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica and the New Guinea region.
The judges have chosen Malaysia-based photographer Tracey Jennings’ photograph Hide and Seek as the winning entry, describing the shot as a having “a huge amount of energy with a rich cacophony of shapes and an explosion of tonality.” New South Wales photographer Floyd Mallon won the junior category for his shot Running Wombat, Common Wombat (Vombatus ursinus).
The gallery below includes a selection of the finalists’ works, on show at the museum until November 11.
