Review: All Genius All Idiot

All Genius All Idiot sees four male performers attempt to walk the line between idiocy and genius. ★★★½
The Stockholm-based troupe, Svalbard Company, swings wildly from caveman and animalistic movements, to the pure brilliance of accomplished acrobats and musicians.
The show itself is mash-up of circus, physical theatre and music.
It consists of a strange compilation of sequences – some of which drag, while others excite and delight. Although there are parts of the hour-long show that don’t work, there are also moments of original and superbly creative choreography that you probably won’t see anywhere else this Fringe.

The performers are each talented in both music and acrobatics, sometimes showing off both skills at the same time.
All Genius All Idiot includes hand balancing, ground acrobatics, ground-to-air acrobats, and Chinese pole and aerial rope work.
Live music is produced with a random array of instruments and props; the performers play with the manipulation of water, crashes of sound, reggae, club music and rap. As strange as it is, it works – mostly.
Svalbard Company also experiments with lighting to produce a suspenseful and fascinating sequence that stands out among the chaos.
All in all, the show is erratic and intriguing. It has some kinks to iron out, but audiences will still gasp at the acrobatics and laugh at the hilarity.
