In this week’s Poet’s Corner, Robert Drusetta of Adelaide looks at getting through the office working day.

Coffee

Shuffle to the coffee house in
Alternate states of consciousness.
Held upright by
The promise of the arresting aroma.
Inhaling superficial stealth to
Face another inglorious day.
Contemplate the morning news while
The bean man proficiently brews.
Part of the cultural condition to
Claim the daily cup of ambition.

Ordinary Time

Home
Must have this cursed alarm
Involuntarily extraction from my subconscious world
Apologetic self treatment
Face the day
Absent minded am ablutions
Natural aversion from duty
Contemplate spending choices
High noon purposeful respite
Saviour spending choices
Unnatural aversion to duty
Absent minded pm ablutions
Drop the day
Unapologetic self-healing
Voluntarily insertion to my conscious world
Don’t need this blessed alarm
Home.
