A Love Letter to Winter

To my dearest long-lost true love
Who gazed at me from up above
You don’t know how I miss you so
More than you possibly could know

Sorry that I once mocked the way
You rained upon me every day.
It turns out that I need you here
Your love is vital every year

Once I begged for other seasons
At the time, I had my reasons
In hindsight, it was dumb to say
I never thought you’d go away

We are not coping with your loss
Nature’s struggling in warm chaos
Ravens collect their sticks and string
Nesting early, they think it’s spring

I miss clear sky without red dust
Topsoil soaking, not salty crust
Rivers rippling on the bank
Surplus water in my tank

Do not trust in the weather charts
You never show, and break our hearts
I love your rain, it makes me swoon
Forgive me and return home soon.
