It’s the zombies you need to watch out for this Fringe season – and if you’re not sure how to prepare for a zombie apocalypse, then this show is for you.

Settle in for an hour of fun and frivolity as zombie-obsessed comedian Dan Willis talks you through how to survive the apocalypse – from the first terrifying days of infection to establishing your own community of survivors.

The hilarious show – aptly held in a small room called The Bunka at the Austral hotel – combines footage from the first three seasons of The Walking Dead with extracts from zombie films such as 28 Days Later and images taken by Willis.

Charismatic and energetic, Willis captures the audience’s attention the moment he climbs on stage, and his funny anecdotes soon have people in hysterics. Clearly a man with too much free time, his survival theories are detailed and well-thought-out, and it is obvious he has spent a great deal of effort preparing for this seemingly inevitable situation. This is illustrated by his numerous home photos showing locations which would or would not withstand an attack by the unrelenting undead.

There is a great deal of audience participation in this show as Willis puts people on the spot with a survival pop quiz which tests their creativity and leaves them wondering just what they would do in the event of a zombie infestation. The intimate setting and relaxed format create a comfortable atmosphere, and Willis’s easy-going nature enables him to establish an immediate rapport with the crowd.

Should Adelaide fall victim to a zombie virus, I would definitely want Dan Willis by my side. His quick thinking and obviously well-thought-out plans would ensure survival, while his obsessive rants would lighten even the most frightening of moments.
