New winter music festival to warm up Adelaide
Music
A new music festival will be launched in Adelaide this winter to enliven the city during what is usually a quiet period on the live entertainment scene.

Presented by Music SA with funding from Arts South Australia, Umbrella: Winter City Sounds will feature gigs in almost 60 different Adelaide spaces – including both traditional venues and “unconventional spaces” – from July 15 to August 7.
It will include more than 200 performances across a range of genres for music fans of all ages, with the full program to be announced on June 1.

Music SA says Umbrella will seek to bring the city alive with culture beyond the usual festival season.
“What I love about Umbrella: Winter City Sounds is that there is something for everyone: from hip-hop to classical, from rock to jazz and beyond,” says Lisa Bishop, general manager of Music SA.
“Adelaide has a rich history of establishing world-class events using a grassroots approach … Umbrella is no exception to this tradition.
“Music SA has commissioned 20 emerging music entrepreneurs to create live music experiences in line with their own artistic visions and hopes to use this model to grow a thriving festival and industry.”
