The April 9 concert will see Santana, known for their pioneering Latin-rock fusion style and Carlos Santana’s virtuosic guitar playing, will perform music from all four decades of their career, including what promoters describe as “hits and songs of yesterday, today and tomorrow”.

The original line-up from 1969 – when the band shot to international fame with their performance at the Woodstock Festival – released Santana’s 24th studio album, Santana IV,  this year and last toured Australia in 2013 with The Steve Miller Band.

The Doobie Brothers, whose hits have included “Listen to the Music” and “Long Train Running”, will tour with seven members, but the line-up includes just two founding members (Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons) plus long-time singer-guitarist John McFee.

Also on the bill for the Adelaide show is local musician Russell Morris, recently nominated for a 2016 ARIA Award for Best Blues & Roots Album for his latest release Red Dirt – Red Heart.

Tickets for all Santana’s Transmogrify Tour dates go on sale next Tuesday.
