InReview
The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre has a diverse and stimulating program planned for 2016, as we also celebrate the 25th Birthday of the University of South Australia.
The Hawke Centre starts off the year with the presentation of the already booked out event with award winning scientist, environmentalist and broadcaster, Dr David Suzuki. A podcast of the lecture will be available after the event on the Hawke Centre website.
In 2016 for the first time, The Hawke Centre collaborates with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra for a series of fascinating ‘Art Talks’. The first presentation will take place in March with an In-conversation with Nicholas Carter, ASO Principal Conductor and Jacinta Thompson, Executive Director, The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre. This will be followed with a talk by Paul Rissmann, Composer, Pedagogue and Performer in April. During October Jeffrey Tate, Principal Guest Conductor will be part of an In-conversation with Professor David Lloyd, Vice Chancellor, UniSA. The series will conclude in November with Pinchas Zukerman, Artist in Association in an In-Conversation with Professor Tanya Monro, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research and Innovation, UniSA.
We are pleased to present a very special 25th Birthday event with Robyn Archer AO on Thursday 31 March. Robyn is a singer, writer, artistic director and public advocate for the arts. She is currently Strategic Advisor, Arts and Culture, for the Gold Coast, and artistic director of The Light in Winter which she created for Federation Square in Melbourne. Robyn is the former Artistic Director of the National Festival of Australian Theatre (Canberra), the Adelaide and Melbourne Festivals, and Ten Days on the Island, which she created for Tasmania.
The Kerry Packer Civic Gallery will exhibit ‘Fire Monkey: A New Studio Residency in Shandong’ featuring artists Gus Clutterbuck, David Reid, Christina Tridente, Jess Dare Damien Shen and 57 Films. This is followed by the moving exhibition ‘Who Are We Anyway?’ An exhibition that explores themes of belonging and identity through a refugee community living in Cisarua, Indonesia. Exhibiting artists include Muzafar Ali, Khadim Dai and Jolyon Hoff. The artists present various pieces of art in the forms of video, photography and social media.
With many more events and exhibitions planned, 2016 is set to be another busy and thought provoking year. Keep up-to-date with our program as the year progresses.
