Poem: Your Lifestyle Awaits
Books & Poetry
Paradise is there to be found, not lost, suggests this week’s Poet’s Corner contribution from Monique Holton of Adelaide.
Your Lifestyle Awaits
Dirty cotton bud clouds,
absorb the candy and citrus sky,
trying to soak up the sunrise,
like cob loaf to a soup.
Quietly, bending low like a mother
delivering her first kiss of the day to her sleeping child,
the dawn hovers,
with no expectation.
A green blanket lies flat beneath,
pulled tight, wrapped snug around the day,
reflecting with the moisture of nature’s shower,
the damp emerald jewel invites compliments from passers-by.
Waking up,
the choir begins their song,
their morning call piercing through the leaves
and into the ears below.
Around they go,
some slow, some fast,
marching, committed in their routine,
every step a claim on the day.
Whilst all around,
standing shoulder to shoulder,
in a barrier of strength,
the sleeping cocoons awaken.
A new day is born.
paradise is found,
in a manufactured dome,
of thirty-five percent open space.
Your lifestyle awaits…
